Jeff Bergman is the Sales Director at Ryan Lee Gallery/ Mary Ryan Gallery. Prior to this role, he was a print dealer with Pace Prints for fourteen years where he was responsible for sales and client relationships, as well as producing gallery exhibitions. Jeff also wrote a weekly art newsletter from 2012-2017 called Atlas and has lectured on Contemporary Art. With a long history in the New York gallery world and experience as an artist mentor, Jeff can advise on many topics, including how to build gallery relationships.
Ryan Campbell-Garrett / Art Advisor
Ryan Campbell-Garrett is an art advisor based in San Diego with twenty years of experience developing collections for private clients and luxury hotels. Ryan’s background working for Sotheby’s and advising a select clientele, provides a depth of knowledge for art acquisitions and collection management. Ryan brings a distinct combination of expertise in both the art market as well as the hospitality industry and hopes to help artists position themselves to achieve success in the commercial art world.
Katharine Earnhardt / NOT CURRENTLY MENTORING
Katharine Earnhardt, founder of Mason Lane Art Advisory Services, developed an in-depth art market knowledge and aptitude for developing client taste through fifteen years of experience in the New York and London art worlds. In addition to advising artists from the perspective of an art consultant, Katharine is skilled in maximizing the impact of various marketing channels such as social media, website, email and more. She has worked at notable institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, Christie’s, and Gurr Johns, and conducted extensive research on art value and investment. She regularly speaks, conducts webinars, and leads classes on the art industry, educating designers and other creatives about sourcing and acquiring art.
Stephanie Gabriel / Gallerist
Stephanie Gabriel has nearly twenty years of New York gallery experience. Most recently she was a director at Boesky Gallery and previously a partner at Lehmann Maupin. Stephanie has built strong relationships with preeminent artists from around the globe and helped them to advance their goals and objectives through strategic planning and thoughtful guidance. She has also cultivated curatorial relationships and secured exhibitions and museum acquisitions at leading institutions worldwide.
Elizabeth Garvey / Gallerist
Elizabeth Garvey is the Co-Founder and Director of Garvey|Simon, a New York Gallery, representing a roster of emerging and mid-career artists. An interest in circumventing the norm is at the core of Garvey|Simon’s mission. Liz is constantly looking to identify and expand into alternative markets. With over thirty years of experience, she has worked both in the gallery world and as an art advisor. Currently, Liz also offers career coaching to artists, curates exhibitions, manages private collections, and works in the secondary market assisting clients with private sales.

Clara Ha has worked in the art world for nearly twenty-five years, founding CHART in 2019, a gallery in TriBeCa. Working closely with emerging and established artists, she is committed to organizing curated exhibitions and collaborative programming . As a partner at Paul Kasmin Gallery until 2016, Clara has worked to develop the careers of many domestic and international artists, organized exhibitions with historic estates, and facilitated acquisitions to many important private collections and institutions worldwide.
Amy Halliday / Upward Specialist Curator and Consultant Website Content, Art Writing, Exhibition Proposal Development
Amy Halliday is an independent curator, educator, and contemporary art consultant with over a decade of experience in curating interdisciplinary exhibitions, public programs, and research initiatives in university art museums and galleries. She currently curates exhibitions, facilitates professional development workshops for institutions and community groups; builds arts-based research and industry partnerships across the United States (Bay Area and Boston) and in the UK (Bristol and London); advises first-time art buyers on building contemporary collections; and teaches international courses in art and museum histories for the Department of Continuing Education at the University of Oxford. She advises artists on their websites, artist statements, exhibition proposals, and public engagement portfolios.
Jennifer Klos / Art Advisor
Jennifer Klos is a Dallas-based art advisor, lecturer and independent curator. She is the founder of Collector House, a boutique art advisory firm that educates emerging to seasoned collectors on acquiring art through gallery visits, travel tours, online seminars and a YouTube video series. Prior to launching her practice, Jennifer served for eight years as Curator at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, working closely with artists on contemporary art exhibitions and acquisitions.
Emily Klug / NOT CURRENTLY MENTORING
Emily Klug is the Director of Operations at Christie's for the Americas where her role includes overseeing operations strategy, the sale calendar, exhibitions and tours, and all art logistics. Before her time at Christie's, Emily was with Pace Gallery for over a decade, working for three years as the Senior Director of Art Resources where she led a global team of logistics experts in charge of all aspects of exhibitions, logistics, and collections management. Emily excels in helping artists to realize their visions and present their work to the world, while also establishing preservation strategies. She can also offer expert advice on contracts, commission structures, and the written materials artists use to present their narratives and experience.
Ryan Massey / Gallerist
Ryan Massey is the co-director of the Massey Klein Gallery on the Lower East Side. The gallery supports both local and international mid-career and emerging artists. Ryan is responsible for exhibition curation and sales, and acts as the liaison for press and museum outreach. Before opening her gallery, she spent several years working in art galleries and for the architecture firm, Bjarke Ingels Group. Ryan is knowledgeable about the New York gallery world and can advise artists on gallery, client, and curator relationships.
Sharon Reaves / Upward Specialist Website Design
Sharon Reaves, Founder/Owner at Reaves Projects, is a front-end Web designer with nearly fifteen years of experience. Prior to a full-time career in design, she owned Reaves Gallery in San Francisco and later managed an extensive private collection in Manhattan. Sharon designed the gallery's website herself and has since done web design for her former gallery artists and a broad client base that includes tech startups, biotech companies, and health and wellness professionals. Sharon specializes in WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, and Weebly. Her goal is to train and empower clients to be able to maintain their own sites (or at least better understand the process). Sharon is excited to share her love of art and design with Upward artists. She can help artists who are starting a new site to set up and customize a theme or help troubleshoot and organize existing websites.

Jennifer Scanlan is Deputy Director of Craft Alliance in St. Louis, Missouri. Jennifer has worked for two decades as a curator focusing on public art, Contemporary art, and design, including leadership roles at Museum of Arts and Design in New York and the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City. In addition to her knowledge of the museum world, Jennifer advises artists on their websites, artist statements, and the process of applying for grants and residencies.

Alissa Schoenfeld is the Senior Director at Miles McEnery Gallery. She has worked in the New York gallery world for over thirty years, including roles at Pace/MacGill and Yossi Milo. Alissa is a passionate advocate for her gallery’s artists, helping them work toward their sales and exhibition goals. She has placed work in uncountable private art collections and secured museum exhibitions and acquisitions at leading institutions worldwide.

Liza Shapiro is the co-founder of CURA Art, based in Los Angeles and London. CURA Art offers a personal approach to caring for varied collections, providing specialized services to ensure that works of art and other precious objects are preserved, managed, and displayed to the highest standards. Trained as a conservator, with ample experience working in museums and galleries, Liza can advise on materials, preservation, and inventory management for a wide range of mediums.

Amy Snyder’s art advisory practice, founded in 2013, is based in New York with clients across the United States. Amy guides new and established collectors on the acquisition of Contemporary art for homes, offices, and public spaces. She has worked in the art world since 2001, including roles at Sotheby’s and Von Lintel Gallery. Throughout her career, Amy has sought opportunities to advise and exhibit emerging artists, and she established Upward & Associates as a way to continue giving back to the creative community.
Kathleen Vance / Gallerist and Artist
Kathleen Vance has been the director of the Front Room Gallery in New York since 2004. She also played a key role in the Brooklyn art renaissance in the 2000s as an art event organizer, strategist, and community builder. As an officer in the Williamsburg Gallery Association and the Sculptors guild, she has organized public art installations, festivals, and exhibitions. From her ten years of experience in the interior design industry, she has developed a personal approach to artwork placements and commissions. Her curatorial focus is on environmental conservation, which is informed by her work as a professional artist.
Garrett Klein / Gallerist and Artist
Garrett Klein is a founding member of Massey Klein Gallery which was established in 2018. He and his wife, Ryan Massey, are committed to creating collaborative exhibitions in their New York space to promote artists' work. He holds a BFA from the Fashion Institute to Technology and has worked for established artists and galleries since 2008. Klein’s role at Massey Klein is to assist in establishing relationships with artists, sales, marketing, overseeing shipping logistics, and art handling.
As an artist himself, Klein has a unique point of view from both the artist studio and the professional gallery world. He is qualified as a mentor to assist artists in the development of their studio practices and to assist them in understanding the gallery ecosystem.

Tarrah von Lintel opened Von Lintel Gallery in Munich in 1993. She moved her business to New York’s growing Chelsea gallery district in 1999 and then, after fifteen successful years in New York, relocated the gallery to Los Angeles in 2014. Tarrah works closely with her artists, helping them to build lasting, international careers. In addition to finding homes in private collections, Von Lintel artists have shown or placed work in important public collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art; The Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and The Getty Museum.
Ellen Hackl Fagan / Gallerist and Artist
Ellen Hackl Fagan is the Founder of ODETTA Gallery and ODETTA Digital. Known for her generosity in offering artists opportunities, Fagan is also an experienced curator. She has produced well over eighty exhibitions showcasing more than 250 artists. Recently the pandemic inspired her to pivot to a new exhibition paradigm of online curatorial practices with the SHIM Art Network and ODETTA Petite, offering services that enable artists to better navigate social media tools and develop their own curatorial voices. She is also an artist and regularly exhibits in New York City and throughout the Northeast. Her work can be found in public and private collections in both the United States and Europe.
Victoria Shaw / Art Advisor and Collection Manager
Victoria Shaw is a AAA certified appraiser and art advisor with over thirty years of experience. She works as an advisor to help both fledgling and established clients build art collections as well as facilitating secondary market sales. She also assists collectors with donations, equitable distribution, insurance, and collateral loans. Victoria is registered as a fiduciary with the New York State Unified Court System and is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of New York City. She also enjoys mentoring other female business owners.
